Our school motto, "Achieving Together with Enjoyment and Confidence" along with our vision and values inform every decision the school, and its governors make. We pride ourselves on our vibrant and loving community, from our playtime to our fantastic PTA. The school was founded in 1796 by the Morton Family.
At Tortworth Primary School, our 'Rights and Responsibilities' are the pillars of our school community - a reflection of our moral values. The social and emotional aspects of learning are valued as much as our academic curriculum. We have the right to a safe and exciting place in which we can learn, work and play.
The school is taking part in the Eden Red FSM voucher scheme. Children that are entitled to free school meals, and are learning from home full-time are entitled to a 15 voucher per week. The vouchers have been grouped into families, meaning one code will cover all the children. For example if there are two eligible children, the voucher value will be 60.
A child with special educational needs or disability (SEND) is any child that, the school feels, would benefit from specially tailored teaching to aid with the child's learning, to help with their behavior or to help overcome physical difficulties. We believe that it is crucial to support every child in their learning, to do this we encourage families to work closely with the school.
Safeguarding children, child protection and legislation applies to all children up to the age of 18. The children at Tortworth participate in workshops with the NSPCC to help them understand how to stay safe from harm and know what to do if they feel unsafe. At this school, we abide by the statutory guidance from the Government which sets out what schools must do to keep children safe.
