Services
At Cottingley Village Primary School we are proud to be a welcoming, successful, inclusive school. We strive to ensure that our school is a learning centre of excellence. Our principled approach ensures that every child is seen as an individual.

Our mission is to prepare our young people to confidently be the best that they can be, by ensuring that they are equipped with, and can effectively utilise, the skills, attitudes and values for life-long learning in order to become fully contributing members of society.A safe, secure and happy learning environment where everyone is valued, and inspired to achieve all that they can.
Central to all our teaching at Cottingley Village Primary School is developing children's skills to become independent learners. This is based upon Building Learning Power (BLP), part of a national initiative from research by Professor Guy Claxton which suggests that there are four learning dispositions.
Members - responsible only for fundamental decisions such as changing the constitution of the academy trust. Trustees (Directors) - have ultimate responsibility for making strategic decisions about the day to day running of all the schools in the Trust. Governors - support the Trustees by monitoring and challenging the performance of each school at a local level.
Our new Year 6 Sports Leaders are busily preparing to deliver a sporty lunchtime with Reception to Year 3. Do we have any budding Andy Murrays? You bet! Our Year 5 Tennis team qualified for the Bradford School Games by playing some sensational tennis on a scorching evening at Saltaire Tennis Club.
At school the Early Years Phase follows the National Curriculum Phonics scheme which is supplemented by the Letters and Sounds scheme. The school uses the Book Band System for the Reading Scheme. The Oxford Reading Scheme is the base scheme we use for our reading in school and this is supplemented with a wide range of other schemes at each level.
