And a great school it is, not only because of the recognition it receives but because the children at the school achieve great things. I am privileged to lead this school which has an extraordinary staff team who work seamlessly with massively committed parents. The very high standards we achieve in all areas emerge very naturally from this effective partnership.
Our Mission Statement: JOY through Respect, is our daily focus as we open our hearts - to scripture and to each other.

This will be achieved through the showing of RESPECT, which in turn involves a wholehearted attempt to LOOK AGAIN at the people and situations presented to us. It is in this spirit that we encourage each child to develop their potential - spiritually, academically and physically - in the true spirit of hard work, self-reliance and cooperation.

Our Lady of Pity RC Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.
We know children learn best when their learning is purposeful and has a 'real' context. Mastery principles - Jerome Bruner's work in particular, tell us that we need to start with something 'concrete' - something which links to the children's experience of life. An exploration of the skeleton may start by looking at real chicken bones, for example.
Our curriculum is conceived with real-life experience at its heart. National curriculum outcomes are mapped out in this context, incorporating the knowledge and skills to be gained in every year group.
With this mastery principle in mind, we have woven our areas of learning into a "Curriculum Story" for each year group from Foundation 2 to Year 6 so that, over time, through repeated, progressive experience, the children grow and develop their knowledge of core and foundation subjects. This gives all learning a meaningful context; learning flows from one topic to another.
