At Townfield Primary School, we follow the statutory content of the National Curriculum for History, adapting it to meet the needs of our pupils. We are committed to delivering exciting lessons, which engage all our pupils, including those who have SEN and/or disabilities and those who are disadvantaged, inspiring them to find out more about the past.
We endeavour, where possible, to study our local history, exploring how it fits into and has shaped our national history. Children also experience history through field trips to places, such as The Grosvenor Museum in Chester and World Museum in Liverpool, to bring their history learning to life and to add to their 'cultural capital'.

Currently TPS is a Single Academy Trust and soon we will join Rainbow Education becoming part of their MAT, which means we will become part of a Trust containing more than one academy. Despite challenges faced by TPS, school is in a strong position with fantastic staff and children.
Joining Rainbow Education will not only bring fantastic opportunities for our children and school, but also mean we can share our wealth of skills and knowledge with other schools in the MAT.In reality, any changes will occur in the background so children, parents, carers and the wider school community will not be aware of any changes in school.

Admission to Townfield Nursery for children aged 3-4, can be done by requesting a copy of our admission form from the school office or by emailling nursery@townfield.wirral.sch.uk. As Townfield Primary is a Single Academy Trust, our equivalent to governors are called Trustees. They essentially carry out the same role as a "governor", however have added responsibility to their roles.
The Governing Body has a range of duties and powers and a general responsibility for the conduct of the academy with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement including, setting targets for pupil achievement, managing the academy finances, making sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based, appointing staff and reviewing staff performance and pay.

Please see our Equality Policy Statement and Equality Information & Data for further information. We aim to be a close school community where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We want everyone to reach their potential, and recognise that for some pupils extra support is needed to help them to achieve and be successful.
