We have a diverse community and we recognise and respect our differences, celebrating all our strengths and achievements. We pride ourselves on our strong relationships and family atmosphere. We encourage children to take responsibility for their learning, setting high expectations emotionally, socially and academically.
Our curriculum is engaging and provides opportunities and experiences to help children gain a deeper understanding of the world in which we live and meet with more success. Through the guidance and support of our skilled staff, children and families are given a range of tools to develop independence and build resilience.

Staff and governors and children worked together to decide what was important to them and what made Woodlands the place to be! At Woodlands we put children's needs first. We work in partnership with parents, the community and outside agencies. Through our high aspirations we aim to challenge, inspire and motivate children; we encourage them to reach their maximum potential and promote a sense of fulfilment.
At Woodlands Primary School, we are committed to developing our children's cultural capital through providing enriched learning opportunities including educational visits and visitors to the school. Our history curriculum includes a local history study at each stage, making use of resources within the immediate and wider local area enabling children to develop a deep understanding of the rich history of their locality.
Woodlands is a school with a strong sense of community and we want our pupils to have big ambitions and high expectations of themselves; to do this we have created a curriculum that truly meets the needs of all children.
We have developed a rich and exciting curriculum which allows the pupils time to explore ideas creatively and develop speaking and listening skills through discussion, debate and presentations, as well as strengthening core knowledge in each subject.Reasoning and creativity are promoted with children encouraged to make connections to other learning and apply their knowledge and skills.

At Woodlands we take bullying very seriously. Each November we hold an Anti-Bullying Week where we look at different types of bullying and the impact this can have on children. This is reinforced throughout the year in curriculum work and during assemblies. In our recent questionnaire 42% of parents said their child had not been bullied and were there had been cases of bullying, everybody agreed that the school had dealt with it well.
We have a wide range of activities to develop children's skills in a variety of areas in particular the arts and sports. We aim to give our children the chance to enjoy and excel in their chosen area. We are very privileged at Woodlands to have a 'Greggs breakfast club' which starts at 8:15am every day.
