Services
We have an extremely low staff turnover with some team members working at the school for over 20 years! We value our differences and backgrounds and celebrate our individual approaches to childcare. Through our varying qualifications and childcare practice, as a team we have a wealth of knowledge which is rich in diversity and experience.
The schools follow the Montessori ethos of learning and provide a warm and nurturing environment for all children. The purpose built premises at Lemon Tree Montessori School and the carefully prepared environment at St Matthew's Montessori School have been specifically designed to enhance learning whilst creating a home from home environment.
At Lemon Tree and St Matthew's Montessori we aim to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment where your child can learn through encouragement, sensitivity to others and mutual respect. Your child's skills will be developed through exploring and working with the Montessori materials and other carefully selected materials in conjunction with the Early Learning goals.
St Matthew's Montessori & Lemon Tree Montessori Schools demonstrate a strong commitment to Montessori philosophy, which is reflected in their practice. They recognize the importance of freedom and independence in a well prepared environment. The aim of the setting is to create a calm productive atmosphere where each child develops a love of learning and skills for the future.
This is a time when all the teachers allow the children to 'work' at various activities. These activities may be adult initiated or ones that children choose independently from the shelves. These include Montessori equipment and other carefully selected materials from a wide variety of sources.

The teachers have a clear understanding of each child's stage of development, so will be able to 'direct' the child to any particular activity s/he feels they need to achieve. This is a time when teachers will show children how to use the Montessori equipment, either on a 1-1 basis or in a group. The classroom at our schools are a complete learning environment.
