We are very proud of all of the children and staff at our school, who have been working on the Livesimply Cafod award. We are the first school in Southwark to receive this accolade and have been deemed a "beacon" school for all of our initiatives.
We received this special award on the day the Vatican launched its Laudato Si' Action Plan, which included a call for Catholic schools globally to give significant attention to social justice and care of God's creation.Well done everyone and keep up the good work! Our commitment to these aims is shown in the manner in which the governors, headteacher and staff set an example in Christian caring by their dedication to the welfare of the children.

Services
Our commitment to these aims is shown in the manner in which the governors, headteacher and staff set an example in Christian caring by their dedication to the welfare of the children. Our school, St Thomas of Canterbury, is a very welcoming and friendly place with lots of helpful teachers and teaching assistants who give us a fantastic education.
Visitors to the school always comment on how friendly, polite, caring and happy our children are - what a credit to their parents! We have 9 classes, including the Nursery, with children ranging from 3 to 11 years. Every Thursday morning we have either a Mass for the Key Stage 2 classes or a service for the Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage children.
Morning break is known as biscuit break, the children can bring biscuits to eat. Please do not not send any chocolate or nut biscuits as we are a nut free school. Afternoon break is known as fruit break, again the children can bring fresh fruit in from home but fruit winders, sweet substances etc are not permitted, children in KS1 (R, 1 and 2) receive free fruit.
We have a wonderful setting where children feel safe, secure and have lots of fun! We make full use of the indoor and outside space and understand the impact the environment has on the children's learning. Our commitment to these aims is shown in the manner in which the governors, headteacher and staff set an example in Christian caring by their dedication to the welfare of the children.
Our teachers are Mrs Tillman on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Round on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Some of our topics this year include: Ourselves, Autumn, Festivals, Food, Life Cycles of Insects and Plants. In our class we learn through play activities and use creativity and exploration to extend our learning.
