We are a very happy village school and preschool, with a team of kind, hard-working and loyal staff (many wearing several 'hats'), a supportive parent body and dedicated governing body. We are blessed with the full support of our Church and community. As a Church of England school, our Christian Foundation is the base on which we build our whole school community life.
We expect everyone to love their neighbour as Jesus loves us. We are very fortunate to have an excellent team of people working at Charlton Mackrell School and Preschool, who each bring a wealth of different experiences from a wide range of backgrounds. This means that the children benefit from a lovely balance of interests and expertise.

Services
The Board consists of 12 governors and all have a strong link with our wider school community. Governors serve for a standard term of term of 4 years though co-opted governors, who are appointed by the Board, serve 2 year terms. Holding the Head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
Anyone joining Charlton Mackrell Primary School today is part of a long line of pupils, teachers and supporters who can enjoy and benefit from its proud history. Although forms of education started in the villages before 1846, Charlton Mackrell School was planned, built and part funded by the Reverend William Thomas Parr Brymer.
Quite often it may be more convenient for you to drop off your child before school starts: or perhaps collect them later in the day. Late Birds Club is available starting at the end of school at 3.15pm until 4.15pm for the first session and 5.15pm for the second session. Each session is 3.50 and a snack is included.
Charlton Mackrell Primary School is very fortunate in benefitting from a longstanding trust. Whilst the capital amount is small the Trustees set up a fund to provide music bursaries for pupils to support the teaching of music in the school. Archdeacon William Brymer, a former vicar of Charlton Mackrell church, and founder of the school in 1853, set up a foundation for the welfare, education and advancement of pupils at the school.
