Services
The NHS advises that children between 5 and 18 need aerobic exercises to strengthen muscles and bones. They should have around 1 hour of moderate intensity exercise each day, which develops movement skills, bones and muscles. These should ideally be varied in type and intensity and make you breathe faster and feel warmer.
Many parents and carers are concerned about how their children, whatever their age, are feeling at present. It is understandable that children and young people may be feeling anxious and upset. There are lots of ways we can help our children and lessen their worry and anxiety about the current situation we find ourselves in.
The topic chosen for this year is kindness, something we can all agree is pretty important in life, right now in particular. Kindness helps bring us together and can act as the glue that binds our communities. By helping our young people see this and encouraging it, we will create a happier, more compassionate world for all of us in the future.
We have received some useful information from the English Hub regarding phonics and reading. All the information is now available on the website. There are reading ideas and links to free online books and websites. Bitham Brook follows the 'Letters and Sounds' programme for phonics from Reception through to Year 2. A copy of the programme has also been added to the website.
Bitham Brook follows the 'Letters and Sounds' phonics programme. We teach children phonics from Reception through to the end of year 2. Some children will also continue to learn phonics in Key Stage Two. Below are a couple of websites that you can visit to hear how each phoneme or sound is correctly pronounced.
