We have been providing professional and compassionate veterinary care in Devon for over 50 years. We are a small animal practice covering companion animals like cats, dogs, rabbits and exotic pets. Our six vet surgeries in Totnes, Paignton, Ashburton, Brixham and Dartmouth cover Dartmoor, Torbay and the South Hams. To help keep us all safe, please do not attend the practice unless you have a pre-booked appointment, or have arranged to collect food/medication.
Services
The practice started by servicing the farming community in the area around Totnes in the 1950's. Derek Hair and Wilf Beaumont began their successful partnership with a practice in Castle Street, Totnes. The small animal work played a small part initially with operations taking place on Thursday evenings after the consults had finished.
Here at Dart Vale Veterinary Group, we're very proud to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated individuals working in our friendly practice. We are all passionate about animals and their well-being, from our veterinary surgeons and qualified nurses to our essential support staff. Highly trained and caring, each of us has a role to play in making this a special practice for you to visit with your pet.
All of our five branches offer consult sessions for first opinion veterinary care of your pets. Our routine services include health checks, vaccinations, micro-chipping and medical treatments. We can provide dental care, neutering and basic surgical procedures such as lump removals.
Our Paignton and Totnes branches have X-ray and automatic processing for rapid results and our endoscopes allow us to visualise the nasal passages and airways of dogs and the oesophagus and stomachs of cats and dogs.We are able to perform more complicated orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery at our Paignton and Totnes branches.

Our dog went over the rainbow bridge but the staff were most kind and allowed us both to be with her even though they are still observing covid restrictions so only one person allowed in....this was waived due to the circumstances. The price was reasonable considering it was bank holiday weekend on the Sunday morning...thank you....you made a distressing situation bearable. My only regret is that we didn't get a paw print done which some vets offer

If I could give 0 stars I would. My nans cat had been missing for 3 days and when finally arrived home was limping and had a swollen chest. After rushing her to the vets the incompetent vet told my parents that she hadn’t broken her leg and that the swelling would go down and that she had just been in a fight. The vet prescribed pain killers which aren’t cheap for an old aged pensioner. Anyway 3 days later she was limping, not eating and there was a tennis sized lump in her chest where the swelling was. After noticing we rushed her immediately to a different vet who after doing the proper practice

Called as an emergency, despite being more then 40 min away they were sympathetic, and even advised on where to call nearer to us. After speaking with a nearer surgery who refused to help Dart Vale happily stepped up and told us to head over straight away. We were greeted by friendly staff and made us feel at ease. Very well organised, and I wouldn't hesitate to call again when needed. Thank you
