St. Marychurch Pre-school has operated in the Parish Hall since the late 1970s and registered with Ofsted in 1997. The Pre-school meets the Welfare Requirements and plans to the Early Years Foundation Stage. The group is run by experienced staff and is managed by a committee of parents. We have a classroom and an enclosed outside play space with grass and wooded den areas for playing and exploring the natural world.
We aim to provide a safe, stimulating, caring, happy pre-school where all children and their families are welcome. We provide a curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage using individual children's interests and needs. Providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2 years until they reach statutory school age.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a document for early years childcare providers to help them support your child's learning and development from birth to five years. The EYFS sets out the standards that all early years childcare providers must meet to ensure that your child learns and develops well and are kept safe and healthy.
Every child is an individual and we value and understand that all children grow and develop at their own pace. Children learn first and foremost from their parents and we aim to build on their skills by providing a happy and motivating environment. We know that children learn best from experiences that are appropriate for their age/stage of development and therefore match these needs within the setting, by providing a range of play opportunities.
Every child will have a key person who will be using their interests, emerging skills and 'next steps' development to plan their weekly curriculum. This may be either 1:1 or working in small group teacher-led activities. Observations from planned learning opportunities will be entered into their online learning journal.
Every child has their own personal Learning Diary which you can access on the secure website 'Tapestry'. Parents can view their child's Learning Diary at any time on a variety of devices. Please ask a practitioner if you would like further information on access. When you log on to the learning diary you will be able to view all of your child's observations, photographs and videos that have been taken during their time at the setting.
