Not sure what was better: the pub, the food or the staff. Went out their way to squeeze us in at the last minute, made a proper fuss of us and the food was gorgeous. I couldn't recommend this pub more although make sure you book as winging it could leave you greatly disappointed! We will be back!

This is a traditional village pub with all the trimmings. It hasn't been gentrified and has a great welcoming vibe. Staff are cheerful, friendly and attentive. The ambience is relaxing and cosy and there are plenty of Tarzan references in line the fact that the village is Greystoke. The chocolate box exterior doesn't disappoint. Inside is full of character and for warmer days there is a large family friendly beer garden through the back. The pub food menu is full of English favourites and the meals we had, were delicious. Haddock so huge it was hanging of the plate, and homemade steak pie served

Very popular with both locals and tourists. Very helpful, friendly staff. Food good but a little pricey. Lovely beer garden at back and very welcoming frontage. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely, village pub lunch. Great spot in Greystoke to stop for a lovely refreshment and a great lunch which we had in the beer garden at the rear, which was completely set up for the youngsters with giant connect 4 and chess. Highly recommend the haddock... it was huge! Will certainly try to return before our week on holiday is over. I would've given 5 stars but there was a long delay getting drinks! I think everywhere at the moment is understaffed xx

We paid a visit after always wanting to have a look at Greystoke as it's well signposted off the A66 into the northern Lake district.
We were always intrigued to visit being well acquainted with Greystoke the legend of Tarzan and I did manage to gather it is where the hall where Tarzan lived before his infamous jungle transformation is.
A polite notice outside the gates of the hall reminds visitors that it's not open to the public sadly. However the pub, fortunately is. We sat outside and enjoyed a pint of local ale, well served and a pot of tea for the driver to wash down the crisps. Very well

Visited 17th August for food. Nice place, big beer garden out the back. They were quite busy when we arrived and they managed to forget about us and the landlord was a bit too familiar for our liking, but appreciate some people may like that. The black sheep was nice and the burgers were fine so a solid 4

Popped in here today for a drink. Very friendly landlord and welcoming to our dog, filling a bowl of water for her. Very busy with dinner service, clearly very popular. We were impressed with the huge well-kept garden at the rear.

Staff pleasant, good food portions on a varied menu and tables well spaced.
Lots of outdoor space if Cumbrian weather up to it, including covered space and full glass fronted room.
Good vegetarian options
