The Old Crown is located in the picturesque Cumbrian village of Hesket Newmarket, on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. The pub is owned by a co-operative of some 150 customers and supporters from the local and wider community. We serve the very best in ales, mostly supplied by Hesket Newmarket brewery which is located on our doorstep.
You will be assured of a warm welcome by your hosts Helen and Si whether you are popping in for a drink, something to eat, or a chat - or all three! You can find more information on our beers, our delicious food and serving times or notable events in our diary. You can also find further information on exactly how to find us and, if you need it, where to stay.

Services
The Old Crown is the only pub in the village of Hesket Newmarket, which nestles in the Caldbeck fells on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. The pub dates back to the 18th century, but our story starts in 1987 when Jim and Liz Fearnley had a dream of running a pub and brewing their own beer.
With the famous Hesket Newmarket brewery located next door to The Old Crown we get the very best beers fresh and local. The brewery produces a wide offering designed to tickle the tastebuds and delight the senses! These are some of the beers that the brewery produces and we have a large selection of them available ready to serve.
You can settle down and enjoy your meal in our dining room, or the bar, and we have plenty of options for adults and children. Will it be our 'Sunday roast to die for', our 'Steak & Hesket Ale pie that counts as food of the gods' or one of our many other offerings. Takeaway food is also available Friday & Saturday evenings 5.30 -7.30pm; you can pre-order by phone.

Lovely, old style country.pubwwarm, friendly staff. This is Britain's first co-operatively owned pubwhich servessuperb.,well-kept beers (fromthe brewery at the back)The food is good quality, standard pub grub. One quibble is tha tthe menu doesn't change and there are no 'specials.'the building dates from the 1700s so access is, tricky for those with serious mobility issues.. my 95 year old mumand her mates manage ok.,though.

Outstanding pub with it's own brewery! I've visited this pub for a long long time now and it's not changed it's character. Friendly staff, superb (camra real ale guide) beer and good quality simple food make this place well worth visiting, add to that the beautiful countryside views and lovely walks and you have a day well spent. Finally I forgot to mention that the pub is dog friendly and if you want to the real ale at home then they will sell you a four pint container of your favourite tipple.
