The Miners Arms
I've been looking for a good Sunday lunch in Plymouth for years, and finally found it yesterday! Beautifully presented, delicious food in a lovely airy conservatory, part of a traditional pub in Hemerdon. Thoroughly recommend. It won't break the bank either. We have visited many times with family and friends.

It is cosy inside with a warm fire. In warmer weather there is a large beer garden where the pub often has a band playing, with children's face painting & hog roast on bank holidays. Went here on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Lovely setting, attentive staff and one of the best meals we have had in a while.
Services
A unique 17th century pub and restaurant at the foot of Dartmoor, serving the best in local food and real ales. Beautifully positioned in the secluded hamlet of Hemerdon near Plympton, The Miners Arms gives you the perfect moorland pub setting with fabulous views looking out over Plymouth Sound. For a bite to eat, you can satisfy your taste buds with some of our gastro pub food in our relaxing bar and restaurant.
Of course, every English hamlet needs a pub. So, it was after those original miners at Drakelands, that The Miners Arms pub found its name. Mining ceased in 1944, but The Miners Arms has been going strong ever since. In fact, this 17th century building gained Grade II Listed status in 1984. With the mine reopening in 2015, The Miners Arms has come full circle.
The Miners Arms has always been associated with good food and we let our seasonal menu do the talking. We use only the finest, locally sourced, fresh produce and our standards are high, so the quality of all our dishes is second to none. Our children's menu is freshly prepared and great value too! We also offer some of our delicious meals in smaller appetite portions.
Aside from our wonderful food, we take pride in being a real ale pub, and offer some fine drops to bend one's elbow! Serving five real ales, we mix things up by taking in two guest ales each month. Our established three are a prime choice of Bass Pale Ale, local Jail Ale, and our own exclusive 'Tungsten Tipple'.
When you want to make merry with the family, The Miners Arms is perfectly suited to look after you. From low-key meals out with Mum, Dad and the children, to large functions with the whole family, we'll guarantee you a warm welcome every time. When the weather is fine, our terrace & beer garden has stunning views over Plymouth.

Lovely pub, lovely staff. Owners are the biggest knob heads who have no idea how to run a public house. Sadly we see this again and again. People with lots of money who dont pay they're suppliers! Treat staff and locals like dirt. A complete stain on the industry. We can only hope the next owners might well have a clue as how to run a truly historically magnificent pub in a great village!

Nice pub, but roast lamb was chewy. Told bar staff but I think it fell on deaf ears as there was no response other than 'I'll let the chef know". My dog enjoyed it, so it wasnt wasted. Doesn't encourage me to eat there again.

This is such a wonderful old pub and modern restaurant. The pub has some incredibly lovely features including a log fire. It also allows dogs.. they have a playground outside for kids. The staff are friendly. It really is a lovely place which I would come back to any time.

We were a party of eleven with 2 children one who is severely glutton intolerant. It was an extremely busy sunday. The meal was barely warm. Not sure if that was due to the high volume of people. Not enough vegetables served for the 9 of us having a roast. Food was lovely. Staff incredible. An amazing play area for children and was lovely to see them all playing in a safe enviroment. We had a lovely day there. Would like to see more glutton free on the menu.

Arrived for food. Found out after we had found a table that they were not taking food orders due to the kitchen being too busy. Never heard of this I my life! Normal practice would surely be to take orders and inform people of delays.
They eventually took our order. They had ran out of chips. Food arrived, sweet potato fries were cold. Burgers are nice.
Really nice pub and outside play area to keep the child entertained. Which was needed as we had to wait so long to order.
Dog friendly in the bar area.

I have found my favourite spot in Plymouth! What a beautiful beer garden with gorgeous views. Ample seating and also an enclosed play park with benches there so I could watch my little girl play whilst having my meal. Really friendly staff. & of course an amazing menu with a good variety of food to chose from. I would recommend the home made beer battered fish finger sandwich. Lots of parking too.
