I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher of our happy, vibrant community school where the dedicated staff and Governors are committed to providing a high-quality education within a friendly, safe, and stimulating environment. Our exciting curriculum is designed to motivate children to explore, discover, and question through an enriching learning experience.
All of the children at Leighton Primary School understand their value and contribution that they make to the school community. These core values enhance what we embrace each and every day through our teaching and communication of the values we expect our children to show through their behaviour and attitude around school and the community.
Leighton Primary School receives a Pupil Premium Grant for each child who is entitled to receive Free School Meals or who has been entitled to over the last six years, any 'Looked After Children' and any children who have ceased to be looked after by the local authority because of adoption, a special guardianship or child arrangements order (Post-Looked After Children).
SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. It is a term used to describe children whose needs require any form of support in addition to that of their peers. Our SENDCo is Mrs Kirsten Bilby and her role is to coordinate the provision for the children with SEND across the school.
The SENDCo works closely with teachers and parents to make sure children with SEND get the support they need and regularly reviews the provision in place to ensure it is having a positive impact.Mrs Bilby provides physical resources for children to use such as ear defenders and writing slopes as well as supporting teachers and TAs with intervention work.
