Our school motto is 'Believe, Achieve, Succeed' because it is our vision that every member of our school community believes in themselves; achieves because they have the confidence to work hard and try new things, and feels successful in whatever goals and ambitions they set themselves both now and in the future.

Services
Pupil Premium is funding which school receives for certain pupils, in addition to the normal school budget. Schools are expected to use this extra money to provide additional support for these identified children, in order to help them achieve their full potential. This is NOT the same as universal free school meals that are provided for EY & KS1 pupils.
The role of the school governor is very important. Since Hillside converted to become part of South Pennine Academy Trust, it is governed by the Trustees of South Pennine Academies and a Local Academy Board (local governing board). The Local Academy Board is made up of members appointed by Trustees and by members elected by staff and parents.
The new sports premium is a government funded scheme, in which all Primary schools have been given funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to Primary schools.
There are many ways in which all pupils are given a chance to share their ideas, opinions and concerns on a regular basis during a typical school day. A number of roles/responsibilities are undertaken for the full year and pupils are elected by their class peers to become school councillors. These roles last for the year and are timetabled to ensure that the elected pupils regularly meet in order to represent their classes.
At Hillside we provide a stimulating, knowledge based, inclusive curriculum where skills are developed within a thematic approach with many opportunities for pupils to apply and revisit their learning. The overall aim of our curriculum is to raise aspirations and develop successful and confident life-long learners and responsible citizens, providing the best possible outcomes for our children.
