Welcome to the online gateway to Mount Pleasant Primary School. We are extremely proud of our school and you will see exactly why this is, as you journey through our website. We have recently moved into a brand-new school building which cost nearly 10 million. It consists of amazing indoor and outdoor facilities and the latest educational technologies and resources.
Whilst we are in a brand-new facility now, we were in fact established in 1872, and have been serving the local community's educational needs for many generations. Our Vision to "nurture and empower lifelong learners to think big, aim high and be successful in achieving their dreams and aspirations" highlights the school's highest expectations for all children and a belief that there are no limits to what can be achieved.

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our Nursery. We fully believe that Nursery education is essential for your child as this helps them to develop a firm foundation for a successful education. We are confident that our Nursery curriculum offers children the opportunity to develop their abilities through a variety of learning experiences.
In Year 2 children continue to develop skills, knowledge and experiences from Year 1 and work towards their end of Key Stage 1 tests. In Year 2 we continue to welcome and encourage parent partnership working and hold a number of parent workshops which enables parents to take part in their child's learning.
Year 4 is a key year in building the skills of independence, collaboration and perseverance which will drive the education of children throughout their academic career. By the end of year, children should be able to read with increasing independence, showing accurate and speedy use of phonic decoding.
When children begin Year 5 they are part of Upper Key Stage 2, the final phase for their primary education. In Year 5 essential learning takes place to prepare children for their end of Key Stage 2 tests in Year 6. Maths, English (which includes Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation as well as Writing) take place daily to ensure children's skills, knowledge and understanding in the core subjects are fully developed.
