Services
We are a long established local veterinary surgery, established in Whitstable in the mid 1950s. We have always aimed to provide top quality veterinary care to the animals of Whitstable, Herne Bay and the surrounding areas. The practice was originally located in Whitstable High Street and near to the Sea Front in Herne Bay, but in the 1990s the Herne Bay practice closed and the whole practice moved to Whitstable.
Here at Animed Veterinary Centre, we're very proud to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated individuals working in our friendly practice. We are all passionate about animals and their well-being, from our veterinary surgeons and qualified nurses to our essential support staff. Highly trained and caring, each of us has a role to play in making this a special practice for you to visit with your pet.
Our team of highly dedicated and experienced veterinary surgeons and vet nurses are devoted to your pet's wellbeing. Your pets are always our priority. We all have our own pets and work hard to provide the same service to you that we would want for our own much-loved animals. At our surgery we provide continuity of care, working with you to provide effective and high quality treatment.
Many of our patients are receiving long term treatment and are eligible for 'repeat prescriptions'. Usually, we see these patients every six months, although for some conditions and often at the start of a new treatment, this may be more frequently. If your pet is due more of their usual medication, please contact us no less than 48-hours before you would like to collect this.
In the event of an emergency during our normal opening hours please call our surgery and you will be advised what to do next. If your call is during the night or at the weekend whilst our clinic is closed, please contact MiNightVet Canterbury on 01227 941140. MiNightVet Canterbury is our preferred emergency services partner.

My cat injured her leg, I was told that they believe it just to be soft tissue and should be better within 48 hours but to call if not.
2 days later, I called and asked for an xray to be done as advised by another out of hours vet. It took nearly a week for them to finally see my cat for an xray despite it being an emergency. I bought my cat in for the xray only to be told that there was no vet so I'd have to bring her back again the next day. What kind of vet has no vets? Not even their other branch in nearby Beltinge has had a vet this week.
Eventually, the xray was completed and I was told

Sadly, I had to take my cat Spider who was 17. I knew she was very poorly. The vet was very kind, informative and caring discussing things with me. She was very poorly - so had to make a hard decision. Also, the lovely lady on reception I spoke to on the phone and today was very caring - as always ❤️
