At St Nicholas Preschool we provide a relaxed, happy and stimulating environment where children learn through play. We are an Ofsted Registered Charity Pre-School with excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. Our professionally trained and qualified staff guide the children in their learning.
We track and record children's development using written observations, videos and photographs in an individual "Learning journey" that is available to parents via the Tapestry app.One of our aims is to prepare children for their next chapter, particularly their transition to school (school readiness) this is achieved by developing their independence and self confidence.

Services
Each session starts with Free-Flow play: children can play either inside or outside and can select resources from a wide range. Staff extend children's learning and expand their knowledge whilst they're playing through careful interaction. We have an established Key Worker system where every child is assigned a member of staff.
We have a large, completely enclosed garden which the children have free flow access to all day whatever the weather. We have recently had artificial lawn laid and a fantastic new castle built meaning we can get even more from the space. We also have an allotment area, allowing our children to get involved in growing (and eating) their own vegetables.
Lunch club runs daily for the children who stay all day. The children bring a packed lunch from home. All the children wash their hands, take their lunch bags to the kitchen and choose where they want to sit at the table. Our aim is that the children tackle these life-skills in the secure environment and enjoy building their independence and self-esteem from hands on learning.
Lucy has 2 children, one in senior school and one in primary. She has worked in childcare for over 20 years and enjoying her role as Deputy manager at St. Nicholas Pre-School. Lucy likes singing and creating stories with the children. Sam lives locally with her two children who attend secondary school.
The Parent-led Committee supports the running of the Pre-school, ensuring a safe, well maintained environment and that the staff and children have everything they need. Our committee meet monthly, to discuss ongoing matters and plan any new activities. Joining the committee is an excellent way of getting involved with your child's early education.
