Please email Laura Burnett to enquire about a place for your child at admin@micklandspreschool.co.uk or call her on 0118 947 1976 to arrange a visit to pre-school. We completed a full internal refurbishment to the pre-school building during the summer holidays in 2020 and would love to show you round.

Micklands Pre-School has been operating in Caversham, Berkshire since the early 1970s. We are situated in our own specially equipped building in the spacious grounds of Micklands Primary School, a tranquil setting which is well away from the main roads. We were originally formed by parents as a playgroup to serve the local community.
Services
Micklands Pre-School was originally formed by a group of parents in 1971 to serve the local community. It was set up as a non-profit making charity and over the years, we have grown and developed into a modern and successful early years setting. We are now registered with Ofsted for day care during our term time.
We make our Pre-School accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community regardless of ethnicity, gender, special education needs, disabilities, background, religion or competence in spoken English. Our main admission of new children takes place every September at the beginning of each new school year in the Autumn Term.
We are open between the hours of 8.45am and 3.15pm from Monday to Friday during Micklands Pre-School term time only. We believe that our flexibility in the allocation of sessions makes us one of the most co-operative Pre-Schools in the area. We try to fulfil parent's wishes whenever possible to fit in with their needs, working patterns and their children's routines.
The Early Years Foundation Stage seeks to provide "Partnership working between practitioners and with parents or carers". It is also our belief that children benefit most from early years education and care when parents and settings work together in partnership. Our aim is to support parents as their children's first and most important educators by involving them in their children's education and in the full life of the setting.
This is feedback we have received from parents either spontaneously or via questionnaires we have issued. The two things that stand out for me are that I feel 'welcome' and 'involved'. I feel welcome because the staff are always friendly and always make time to talk in person or by e-mail. I fell involved because the pre-school seem to value my opinion and invite all members of the family to participate where possible.
