The happiness of the children is paramount in the community of St Columba's PS and we aim to create a positive, safe and nurturing environment in which our children can learn, work and play together. All staff in collaboration with parents have high expectations of the children in both their academic achievement and their personal, social and emotional health and well-being.

We promote a child centred approach and pride ourselves in knowing each child individually thus encouraging their personal growth and development. The whole school community and its stakeholders endeavour to treat each other fairly and with respect and apply this policy consistently for all children in the school to ensure everyone achieves their full potential.

Welcome to the St Columba's PS website, which aims to give you a taster of what life is like in our school for prospective parents considering our school for their child(ren). It also aims to provide up-to-date information for our current pupils, parents and wider community.

We hope you enjoy your visit and that you manage to capture a little piece of the ethos that fills our corridors and classrooms each and every day, and a flavour of what makes our school an extremely happy and fun place to learn and work.High expectations of all ensuring high educational outcomes, all achieved within an atmosphere of fun, friendship and sense of community.
At St Columba's Primary School we have a school team in place to deal with Child Protection and Safeguarding. The team are made up from members of school staff and include a trained representative from our Board of Governors. We work closely with the EANI Child Protection Support Team and all staff working across the whole school receive child protection training annually.
Mrs Callan and Ms Henry work together in our Reception, Primary 1 and Primary 2 Foundation Stage Classroom. We learn phonics, reading, writing, number skills, fine motor skills, music, PE, art and also enjoy a lot of play in our playroom, shared area and our amazing outside spaces. Have a browse through some of our photos to see what we are getting up to at school each day.
St Columba's PS admit pupils aged 4 to their reception class provision and this is part of their pre-school year. The reception children follow the pre-school curriculum and have access to a wide range of nursery activities and learning.

We do not operate a staggered intake and all children start on their first day of school staying from 9am until 2pm and adjustments are made to this with individual parents if it is not suited to the child's needs or there are issues with the child settling but we rarely have to reduce the school day as most children are well ready for the school routine with many already attending creche or other pre-school groups before starting school.
St Columba's Primary School operate an Open Door Policy and welcome existing and potential parents to some and visit the school, however it is best to phone or email first to make an appointment to ensure the relevant member of staff is available to see you. Please use the contact details below if you wish to contact the school for any reason.
