Originally built by Richard Harris, a local lead miner who discovered silver in the 18th century. A beautiful Cumbrian farmhouse located just 2.5 miles from Alston, England's highest market town. Nent Hall offers a charming destination to enjoy a relaxing break. Set in peaceful gardens, this property is only a short drive from the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall and is midway along the coast to coast route.
The hotel is popular with walkers and cyclists (we have secure bicycle storage). The Hotel is a haven of tranquillity; perfect for those who want to get away from it all. There is a great selection of 18 rooms including 3 superior four poster bedrooms, the Tower Suite with sitting room, master bedroom, dressing room and bathroom, two family rooms (one sleeping four and one sleeping five), plus a selection of double and twin rooms.

Mostly friendly helpful staff, rooms tired but adequate, bathroom and beds clean, food was quite nice. However we went new years eve believing it would be open until midnight, it was like a sketch from Fawlty Towers the bar tender informing us it was closing at 11 and we would have to leave the bar. On a plus side the other guests in the same boat all rallied together in a guest lounge area and saw the new year in.

Contrary to other reviews, my wife and I found this hotel very good. The beds are very comfortable, the meals very good and the staff excellent.
This is a country hotel in a very rural area, if you are expecting a boutique hotel or city "chain" hotel possibly you may have chosen the wrong place!! I admit, the bar is basic, a typical country inn, suitable for the outdoor types. Try the restaurant, you will find a vast difference.
Peace and quiet, pleasant room, large garden and good food are the quality that this hotel displays.
Had an excellent stay at a very reasonable price, even the dog liked

Nice place even if a little dated, we didn’t mind that. Staff were attentive and more than willing to help so no issues there. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice. We had the salmon and the mackerel which was very nice. Overall a very pleasant stay. Visit the Roman fort it’s a nice walk.
