Chine House Veterinary Hospital
Based at one site, Sileby Hall, since 1994. The building has been altered and expanded over the years, but still has many of the original features. Chine House Veterinary Hospital offers specialist care for equine, small animal and exotic species. Our vets mostly undertake work in one or two areas of the practice, but between the team we are able to offer veterinary care for equines, small animals and exotic pet species.

We employ a team of 12 equine veterinary surgeons. We aim to offer a full equine service, and can provide everything from vaccination and dental work through to a comprehensive stud service and specialist level equine surgery in our purpose-built hospital. We are constantly striving to improve our facilities and equipment to offer you the very best 24 hour equine care.
Services
Chine House Equine Hospital was first established in 1952. The equine practice has expanded greatly since then to become the largest equine practice in the East Midlands, comprising a large, specialist, equine hospital and ambulatory practice. Currently 12 veterinary surgeons work in the equine practice, supported by over 20 nursing, stable and office staff.
Chine House Veterinary Hospital is an RCVS Accredited Equine Hospital. Our hospital facility is led by an internationally recognised specialist in equine surgery with strong back-up from our team of hospital vets and anaesthetists. Our surgeon has an international reputation and has written many scientific papers and published in text books and scientific journals.
Chine House Veterinary Hospital has an experienced team of ambulatory equine vets, providing a comprehensive range of veterinary services to horses, ponies and donkeys. We offer a variety of visit options, including discounts for multiple clients and our Zone Visit Scheme. Further information on vaccinations, castrations, horse passports and horse exports can be found in our articles section.
The aim of the pre-purchase examination (PPE) is to carry out a thorough clinical examination, on behalf of a potential purchaser, to identify and assess factors of a veterinary nature that could prejudice a horse's suitability for its intended use. Each PPE is carried out on behalf of a specific prospective purchaser so that the opinion can be based on that purchaser's individual needs and the intended use of the horse.
We recommend that your horse's mouth and teeth are examined every 6-12 months depending on their age, dental history and oral conformation. This ensures problems can be diagnosed early and good routine dentistry can be performed to prevent serious dental problems arising. Dental examinations are often performed at the same time as your horse's annual vaccinations.
