Services
Abbotswood Veterinary Centre was established in 1991 as a local independent 'one-stop' practice for clients and their pets. We pride ourselves on providing a personal touch to our clients' needs, many of whom have been with the practice for years. We endeavour to provide the highest standards of care by continually investing in the latest equipment and staff training.
We run by appointment only for vet and nurse consultations so please call ahead or use the myBuddy pet app to book in. During our opening hours our team are always available to triage emergencies as needed. Please note that the vet is always contactable but not always on site so please call ahead if you have an emergency so we can be prepared for your arrival.
We offer small animal consultations by appointment to both assess sick pets and also provide routine preventive health care. We will see most pet species including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents. Due to our lack of specialist equipment we do not regularly see exotic species such as reptiles and birds but will provide first aid in emergency situations and would be happy to recommend a specialist if needed.
Vaccinations are an important part of preventative healthcare and are available for cats, dogs and rabbits. We routinely vaccinate cats for feline panleucopaenia virus, feline rhinotracheitis virus and feline calicivirus infections. We also recommend the feline leukaemia vaccine for cats with outdoor access.
In most situations we would recommend neutering your pets and this is a service we provide for cats, dogs and rabbits. We would recommend early neutering of all cats if they are not going to be used for breeding and can safely perform this from 12 weeks old. If you have kittens of the opposite sex (and don't want any more!), earlier is better as females can become pregnant as early as 16 weeks old.

The team at Abbotswood have been absolutely brilliant every interaction my family has had with them. They took time to answer our questions clearly and explain what was happening, the whole team were compassionate and caring, and they routinely go above and beyond to provide excellent and timely care. Given how much pressure vet services are under currently, this really shows the true passion and dedication of the team. The prices are very reasonable, especially for such an excellent and personal service. Would highly recommend.

Our own vets were closed and no other vets would see our dog who had a very nasty lesion over his eyelid which we were worried about because he only has that eye. Kate and Hannah treated him within the hour of our enquiry. Very friendly, courteous and helpful. Definitely recommend and will not hesitate to use again. Thank you so much!
