Fernlea Veterinary Clinic
We believe patient safety to be a priority and thus we use the most up to date inhalation anaesthetic equipment. All sterile procedures ranging from neuterings to orthopaedic and abdominal surgery are carried out at both our clinics. Our clinics were first established in 1986 and have remained a privately run practice ever since.

We have two veterinary practices in Bristol located roughly 1.5 miles apart in Hanham and Kingswood. Over the years we have grown and developed an orthopaedic referral service which operates out of our Hanham Clinic. In the event of an emergency please telephone 01179 677 067 and a recorded message will give simple instructions on how to contact the veterinary surgeon on duty.
Services
Robin graduated from Cambridge university in 1983 & worked in mixed practice in Leicestershire before returning to his home in Bristol opening Fernlea in 1986. In his spare time he is a keen runner & enjoys long walks with Jane & their rescue dog Luigi. Jane worked as head nurse in Leicestershire with Robin before moving to Bristol & helped establish Fernlea.
We offer appointments throughout the day. In emergencies please phone first if possible, but we will always endeavour to see your pet as quickly as we can. We have fully equipped operating theatres at both Hanham and Kingswood. We believe patient safety to be a priority and thus we use the most up to date inhalation anaesthetic equipment.
In most circumstances we recommend that all pets are brought to the surgery where we have all the facilities and equipment to deal with any medical or surgical eventuality. However, in some cases, a home visit may be appropriate and this can be arranged by telephoning our clinics. Some clients feel that when the time has come for their beloved pet to be euthanased they would prefer a house visit.
Wherever possible patients are discharged on the same day as their operation, as we feel most pets recover more quickly, and are happier in their home environment. However, after major surgery, or in acutely ill patients, hospitalisation sometimes may be necessary. All our patients are housed in modern, comfortable hygienic accommodation and are cared for by our dedicated nursing team during their stay.
If you are concerned about your pet during our opening hours please phone to speak to one of our nurses. In an emergency situation we will endeavour to see your pet as soon as possible at either our Hanham or Kingswood surgery.

In the event of an emergency, or should you need urgent advice when the surgeries are closed, please telephone any of the 01179 677067 and a recorded message will give simple instructions on how to contact the veterinary surgeon on duty.

I have been coming back since the day I've moved in the area 3 years ago. I walk there since I'm 2 blocks away from it, but there is parking available on the rear of the building. The street is on it, It's one way system so keep the left lane and you'll find the semidetached property just before the traffic lights. In terms of availability and services they have been amazing. In the last two weeks I needed them to have look at my dog. I have simply turn up at the door and in less than 10 minutes one of their vets was examining Dash. And I was confident that would have happened. So thank you guys

Very friendly girl greeted us at the door. Taken us a long time to catch a feral stray, gone in to be neutered after having at least six litters in the the undergrowth nearby. No more kitten rescuing, phew....

I took my cat to Fernlea Veterinary clinic today and was seen by Hannah who was very efficient and personable. My cat's problem was diagnosed quickly and dealt with, with minimum anxiety for the cat. Medication was given on the spot and I received good clear advice together with further medication to ensure the problem was cleared up completely. I can highly recommend taking your pet to Fernlea at Kingswood, Bristol. They also have another practice at nearby Hanham.

I have brought two of my cats here three times already and even though precautions are taken due to Covid, I have found them super helpful and friendly. The vet came out and saw us to give reassurance and answer all our questions. Really lovely and reliable practice and we shall be returning soon for further treatments. Thank you for taking the best of care with our fur-babies.
