The Dfe [Department for Education] have given clear guidance to schools that they need "to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs."
The purpose of the funding is to ensure children in receipt of Free School Meals [FSM], or those who have been in receipt over the past six years, achieve well alongside the rest of the school cohort. We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.
Every year we write a School Improvement Plan which outlines the key areas we have identified as an area for focus, improvement and development throughout the next year. As a whole school we will be focusing on many areas however we have identified three key priorities, as seen below.

At Nelmes Primary School we have high expectations of all pupils and strive to enable them to reach their full potential. In order to achieve this, many steps are taken to support them through their learning journey. Quality first teaching its vital; however we recognise that for some children there are occasions when additional support may be need to help them achieve their goals.
