Services
For over 100 years, the practice now known as Wherry Veterinary Group has provided veterinary services in Suffolk and South Norfolk for Bungay and its surrounding area. In 2006, we relocated from our old Bridge Street site to large, purpose built premises on Hillside Road East in the Southern side of the town.
Our dedicated veterinary surgeons offer a wealth of experience and their priority is always your pet's health and welfare. Our veterinary nurses keep your pets comfortable, advise on routine health and help to train the nurses of tomorrow. Our administration team keep us all in line and manage our insurance claim forms as well as our accounts.
We offer a full range of consultations for our clients. Our consultations are 15 minutes which means we can fully examine your pet and then discuss with you the diagnostic and treatment options as well as the prognosis and answer any questions you may have.
Our team of vets and nurses have many years of experience as well as additional areas of interest such as medicine and surgery so you can have peace of mind that your pet will receive the best care possible.Members of our experienced team of veterinary surgeons have particular interest in dentistry and are able to perform dental procedures to help keep your pets' mouth healthy.

As you may be aware from recent press reports, there is an unprecedented shortage of qualified veterinary professionals at the moment. This is a nationwide problem, and sadly, one that means the dedicated team at Wherry Vets can currently no longer offer our normal service to our valued clients. While we are short-staffed, we have made provision for our out of hours cover to be provided by Swayne & Partners of Bury St Edmunds.
A consultation will involve a thorough clinical examination of your pet. We will then be able to tell you what are the possible causes of your pet's symptoms and suggest any further diagnostic examinations that may be necessary. In some cases, we will be able to prescribe and dispense medication immediately to resolve your pet's symptoms, at other times hospitalisation and further testing will be required.

We were originally quoted £350 to remove a skin tag on my dog. Because of lock down etc we didn’t get it removed as it wasn’t essential. Have since taken our dog back and the price has increased to £680 for the same skin tag. Their reasoning, they have brought their prices in line with other practices in the local area. Regardless, this is outrageous.

Excellent professional service from the team at the wherry vets. Special thanks to the ladies on reception who listened and advised me today. I've needed the teams help a few times during lock down and found they have been there when needed and adapted particularly well to enable them to continue to help our pets and I feel safe visiting with the measures they have put in place.

We moved Barney, Lottie & Squeaky Jo over to Wherry Vets last year after a friend recommended them. Unfortunately since then, our aging furry family have been frequent visitors. However they have been in very good care. We always see the same vet and therefore we don't need to run through the entire scenario each time. Sebastian clearly loves his work and his patients. He is gentle, sensitive and never rushes us, always explaining clearly everything we need to know. The reception team are warm and welcoming and never short of a treat or a scratch behind the ear - for Barney - not me 😉. Thank
