Acomb Primary School
We are a friendly school with a real focus on the children's needs. Our motto is 'Putting Children First - Always Aiming High', something which we hold very dear and that guides all of our decisions. Please take a look round our website to find out more about us and get in touch if you have any questions.

Y6 have been learning about the causes and impact of climate change with Nat from Sustrans. Year 3 topped off their Science week activities last week by trying to find out what makes things float and sink, which culminated in a very competitive 'raft off'!' The winning raft held over 120 bricks!
Services
Acomb Primary School is proud to be part of Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust, an inclusive partnership of church and community schools underpinned by a shared vision, common values and a commitment to providing an excellent education to all the young people we serve. For more information about Pathfinder, please visit the Trust's website www.pathfindermat.co.uk.
As an academy, we still have a governing body, now known as the LGC or Local Governing Committee. Much of the work of the school is delegated from the MAT trust board to the LGC. Governors play a key role in ensuring that the school runs smoothly, effectively and provides good value for money.

They hold the Headteacher accountable for the performance of the school - from progress of individual pupils to managing deployment of staffing and resources.
In 2019, 82% of our pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths, combined (compared with 65% nationally). 23% of our pupils achieved a high level of attainment in Reading, Writing and Maths, combined (national: 11%). Writing: 52% high scores (national: 20%) (in writing this is teacher assessment of children working at a greater depth).
Acomb Primary School complies with the Public Sector Equality Duty and is committed to ensuring quality of provision throughout our organisation. To ensure the school actively promotes and prioritises raising awareness, appreciation and celebration of diversity including: gender; sexuality, race and religion.
In the Autumn term (September to December) of the year before your child is due to start, telephone the school on 01904 806799 to make an appointment to look round. You will be shown round the school by the head or deputy head during the school day and have a chance to ask questions about the school as well as seeing us in action on a normal day.
