We wish you a very warm welcome to the Holy Rood Catholic Primary School website; to all of you who are already part of our school family and to those of you visiting our site for the first time! We hope that you find the information that you need, and that it reflects some of the fantastic things that we do here.
Holy Rood is proud to be a Catholic school, where Christ is at the heart of our community. Working in close partnership with the home and parish, we share and celebrate our faith, while respecting and accepting those from other traditions and cultures. We acknowledge each person's uniqueness and aim to provide a happy Christian environment where everyone can thrive.
The current Catholic proportion of children is around 41% and applications from non-Catholic families are warmly welcomed. We have a Nursery that takes children from the age of three for 3 hours per day until they start full time at school. Parents are advised to contact the LA for further information about our admission arrangements.
Staff and governors at Holy Rood believe that school is an extension of their family, a place where they feel safe and loved. We encourage our children to Live, Love and Learn and do so through supporting, promoting and upholding the Catholic Ethos creating links with our parish and wider community.
As a school, we believe that art is an integral part of children's education. It provides them with opportunities to develop a range of ways in which they can share and express their individual creativity, whilst learning about and making links with a wide selection of different types of art in our society.
