I have been the Headteacher at De Lucy since 2014, after joining the school in 2008 as a class based Assistant Headteacher, then as Deputy Headteacher in 2010. My role at De Lucy is to lead the strategic direction of the school and line manage the senior leadership team. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed regardless of starting points, any additional needs or external factors.
We aim to provide pupils with a curriculum that we feel is relevant and important to their success now and in their future education and life, for contemporary careers and workplaces. Through our curriculum, we aim to provide the pupils with the skills, work habits and character traits that can be applied across all academic subject areas and in future educational and career settings.
The De Lucy curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the children follow schemes of work which have been developed by subject leaders and which last for a half term. Connections are made across the different subjects; they learn, develop and apply a range of skills across the whole of the curriculum through this approach.
