I wish you a warm welcome to Gwyn Jones Primary School website which offers an insight into our school. I am very privileged to be the Headteacher and part of the Gwyn Jones Primary School family. At Gwyn Jones Primary School, we are very proud to be a culturally diverse and inclusive school that is committed to ensuring we aspire to and achieve our motto of "Inspire and Empower" for all members of our community.
We are a Rights Respecting School and we provide a rich, creative and challenging curriculum which inspires children's curiosity and empowers our pupils to have a voice and be knowledgeable, active global citizens. We have high aspirations for our pupils and we are fully committed to ensuring every child achieves their very best in a safe and nurturing environment.

Services
At Gwyn Jones, we are committed to ensuring that every member of our school community is inspired and empowered each day. Providing excellent teaching which nurtures our children's innate curiosity, allowing them opportunities to take risks and to think for themselves. Supporting our children to have responsibility for their own learning; to have their own opinions and the skills to articulate them.
We usually encourage families to visit our school setting so you can experience the warm, friendly and engaging environment for yourself. Unfortunately, at the moment, this is not possible. We are currently adhering to government guidelines regarding visitors in school. School admission (Reception to year 6) is through the local education authority, Waltham Forest Council.
We are committed to placing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our core values and ethos; believing children's participation is integral to all aspects of school life. This results in empowered and self-confident children who can advocate for the rights of children everywhere.
I became a governor at Gwyn Jones because I wanted to be able to contribute to the local community, and because I am passionate about the importance of education in improving the life chances of all children. I am a former legal aid lawyer, and now work in resolving landlord and tenant disputes. I have found my legal and personnel management background useful in being a governor.
If parents or visitors visit school, they will wear a yellow visitor lanyard which they will have collect from the office having signed in. Children and adults are encouraged to challenge anyone not wearing a visitor lanyard in school. We do allow parents to take photos and short videos of their child involved in a school production or assembly.
