Bealings School
Bealings School is a small village primary school of 106 pupils. We have 4 classes, with 7 teachers and 8 teaching assistants and help from parents and friends of our school. Our school has 4 main classrooms, a hall, an activity area, an outdoor activity area for Early Years and a veranda and sculpture garden.

There is a large, tree shaded playing field and on the other side of our grounds, wooden play equipment. We highly value the particular qualities added to our school by visiting artists, musicians, storytellers. These have included Peter Dixon, Rory McLeod, Hugh Lupton, TUUP, Duncan Williamson, Paul Jackson, Kate Coomer, Michael Platt, Luke Abbott, Dorothy Heathcote.

No-one learns anything by first mastering skills. Children learn in meaningful contexts - by trial and error, and furthermore this learning must be intrinsically rewarding. The ethos of the school is that learning and teaching is a co-constructed process enabling high challenge.

It is based on the understanding that children learn best when there is a meaningful context for that learning and when the children are self motivated to create meaning and discover solutions. We see our school as a workshop for experimentation and research, a laboratory for individual and group learning, a place of constructivism.
Children begin their school days in the small reception class with Joy Lowe. The children start the foundation stage here. The experiences the children have in their first year are crucial in encouraging confidence, a happy attitude, an enquiring mind, and a love of learning. We want to encourage learning for life and so it is so important that the children are happy, secure and that learning is fun.
Please select a date and either email or telephone the office team and we will be able to reserve you a place. We do limit each visit to a maximum of 5 families which is why we ask you contact us in advance. The visit usually lasts about an hour and it is entirely up to you if you wish to bring your children or not.
Due to the number of visitors we have been welcoming over recent years, we now organise days for visits. Please talk to us if you would like to come, you can telephone or email the school office.

If you're visiting us we think it works best to see everyone learning through our Mantle of the Expert approaches in the morning, have a good discussion over lunch and then, in the afternoon, "unravel" the learning that went on in the morning, have a discussion about learning in this way and then, if you would like, offer support materials to get you started on your own versions!
All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible. From this date Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available to children and young people with SEND.
