This year our school became a Forest School. We take great pride in using the outdoors to enhance our learning. We use our beautiful surrounding and make connections with the full curriculum. We regularly take our lessons outside and we are really looking forward to extending our learning next year.
Here is our Student Council for 2018-19. Pupils from P5to P7 produced manifestos and put themselves forward for nomination. Pupils came together to view the displayed manifestos in the hall and after a short assembly by Mr Monaghan explaining the voting procedure, they went to cast their vote. The boys and girls have a busy year ahead and are currently working on their action plan for the forthcoming year.
Today the Digital Leaders attended a training workshop at the Apple Store in Victoria Square, Belfast. They met with an iGenius called Conor who was full of tips, tricks and praise! The children spent the morning exploring the app 'Garageband' and finding out how they could bring this knowledge back into school to share with their peers.
We are very lucky in St Oliver Plunkett's to have our Accelerated Reading system now up and running. Children in Primary 5, 6 and 7 are using Accelerated Reading in our school. AR is a powerful tool designed to meet the individual reading needs of every pupil. It is most effective when the school and home work together to promote reading.
