To help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world, to inspire curiosity, ask perceptive questions and to think critically. To encourage students to become life-long learners who can interpret and question the information presented to them.
Children leave our school with excellent knowledge of a range of historical time periods and a deeper understanding of the values of people around the world and in their own village.Just as importantly, they leave our school with a love of history and a desire to continue their education, able to take on their next steps ready for the KS3 curriculum.

As Headteacher, it is my privilege to welcome you to Melbourne Primary School. We aim to develop our systems to meet one core purpose - to inspire confident learners who will thrive in a changing world. Melbourne Primary is a friendly village school, situated in the Parish of Melbourne in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Although we are an academy, our school still chooses to follow the admissions policies and procedures of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This ensures we remain a community school at heart. Normal school admissions are when a child is starting school for the first time, transferring from an infant school to a junior school at the end of year 2, or transferring from a primary school to secondary education at the end of year 6.
As a family of schools with shared values, we believe we can provide the best education for children in our care by working together to develop best practice, whilst retaining our own unique ethos, identity name and Governing Body structure. If you have any questions regarding how our Multi-Academy Trust works, or how it impacts your child's education, please contact school.
The School Data Dashboard provides a snapshot of school performance at Key Stages 1, 2 and 4. The dashboard can be used by school governors and by members of the public to check the performance of the school in which they are interested. The School Data Dashboard complements the Ofsted school inspection report by providing an analysis of school performance over a three-year period.
The most important thing about our school is the people in it. At Melbourne we are very proud of both our staff and the children and the way they contribute to the calm, positive and productive atmosphere that visitors always comment on. We believe that children are happy at Melbourne and see our school as a place where they can achieve and succeed.
