On behalf of all the children, staff and Governors I have pleasure in welcoming you to Baston Church of England Primary School's website. We hope that you will be able to use our website to find out all about us and really get to know our school. Baston CE Primary is a very special place. We are a hard-working, happy school and our children are at the heart of all we do.
Welcome to Baston CE Primary School and to the Governors' section of the School's website. As a Church of England school, everything we do is grounded in our Christian values. We believe that the caring and nurturing environment at Baston School encourages the development of an all-round individual, with each child being encouraged to realise their full potential.
The school provides a wide range of individual and group music lessons in various instruments through the Deepings Cluster. This includes violin, drums, keyboards, piano, vocals and guitar. The lessons take place during the school week and are very popular. These are paid for each half term. Music for Schools visit the school on a weekly basis and provide tuition in brass and woodwind instruments (eg cornet, clarinet, flute and saxophone).
We were delighted that we were rated once again as a 'Good' School, and the report reflects many areas of great practice, including all of our efforts towards our children becoming successful learners in a multi-diverse world. We were also inspected by the Diocese in 2014, when we were rated as 'Outstanding' as a Church School, which we were thrilled about.
The school has received funding for PE and Sports development. Please see the attached for the details of how much we have received and how the school intends to spend it. An organisation that offers great opportunities to parents, children and staff. We had a visit from Sam Ruddock, a paralympian, who delivered an inspiring address to approximately forty parents and pupils.

The main advice I can offer to prospective parents looking at the school is to be sure to delve past the marketing.
Check out the relevant qualifications of all teaching staff, including the Principal (there is no qualified Headteacher).
Ask about the high turnover of both staff and pupils.
Above all else, thoroughly question the use of restraint, the techniques used and the training behind them.
