Services
The children of St. John's are at the heart of everything we do. All members of St. John's school community are committed to providing a learner centred environment where the interests and aspirations of everyone are catered for. We have high expectations of all members of our school community and we strive to provide our children with high quality learning and teaching experiences.
We the pupils of St. John's want to feel safe and secure in our learning environment. We want happy classrooms where everyone feels valued throughout the school day with friendly staff and pupils. We want to be the very best that we can be. We would like our opinions and ideas to be listened to, discussed and if appropriate taken-on-board.
Language and Literacy allows children to interact with each other and the world in which they live in. To communicate and interact effectively, children develop their skills in the following areas: Talking and Listening, Reading and Writing by completing a range of exciting and challenging learning activities.
This area of learning can be sub-divided into Number, Measure, Shape and Space and Handling Data. In each of these sub-divisions, children use practical resources to develop and consolidate their understanding of mathematical and numerical concepts. Teachers use mathematical vocabulary when introducing and modelling mathematical learning.
I.C.T. is a fundamental area of learning and it is incorporated into every other area of learning daily. We have a dedicated I.C.T. suite which contains desktop computers to allow whole year groups to develop their I.C.T. skills. In each classroom, there is an interactive whiteboard to allow high quality learning and teaching to occur as children can interact with c2k software and age appropriate online resources.
