I hope that you enjoy navigating around the site, and that you get a snapshot of life in our wonderful school. We have a supportive school community, with pupils and parents, governors and our dedicated staff working together to ensure that our school offers the very best educational experiences for the young people in our care.
Hezlett Primary School educates the 'whole child' and we offer a wide variety of experiences outside the classroom through Eco-Schools, Forest Schools, Sustrans, sport and a myriad of extra-curricular activities. We delight in celebrating our pupils' success and pride ourselves in being a friendly, welcoming school where every child is a special individual.

Should the number of applications exceed the school admissions or enrolment number the use of the following criteria has been delegated to the Principal by the Board of Governors. During the admissions procedure when applying the criteria punctual applications will be considered before late applications are considered.
Breakfast Club is available from 8.00 am to 8.30 pm each day. Pupils can opt for supervision only, or have a healthy breakfast included in the daily fee. Hezlett Primary also offers a childcare facility for P1 to P3 pupils each afternoon from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm Monday to Thursday and from 2.00 pm until 3.00 pm on a Friday.
Hezlett Primary is an Eco-School. We are working towards our 5th Green Flag. This ethos is embedded in how we function and learn as a school. Our Eco-School Council committee empowers our pupils to sustain and develop this. Our children enjoy taking part in active journeys to school whether that is walking, cycling or scooting.
This year we became a Forest School. Hezlett is surrounded by natural beauty. It is positioned with easy access to Downhill Forest, Castlerock Beach and the Bird Hide at the Bann Estuary. Forest School is an educational programme developed from Danish ideas of working with children and young people in the outdoors, helping to build self-esteem, social skills and independence.
We are delighted to have embarked on a Shared Education programme with St. Aidan's Primary in Magilligan. The project is funded by Peace IV. This will provide endless opportunities for the children to explore and learn together through a variety of experiences both inside and outside of our schools.
