Riccall Community Primary School

The first Parish School was established by subscription in 1791. The premises consisted of a house, garden and schoolroom. The schoolmaster received payment from the interest from money left by various benefactors from 1720 onwards. The master also had the benefit of the income from cattle grazing in local marshes.

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education where national or local restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home. We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate.

Our aim, here at Riccall, is a bold one - we want to change the world by nurturing and inspiring every individual in our care. The children at Riccall will grow up and move on to the next stage of their education. They will go out into the wider world and we want to inspire them to see that they really can make a difference in that world.

The Parents' Forum meets once a term and is open to any interested parents or carers. It was set up to provide parents with an opportunity to discuss educational issues and to improve consultation with both parents and carers. Agenda items may be suggested by parents or school in advance of the meetings and this ensures that we reflect the issues that are of interest to both parties.

All of our volunteers need to have full police clearance before working at school. We also require references. Volunteers also need to undertake induction training which includes child protection and safeguarding information. DBS Applications for DBS (formerly CRB) clearance can now be completed online.
