A lovely hotel that would clearly have been the place to stay in its heyday even if it is a bit dated now. The rooms are a good size. The beds are very firm. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help guests. It's a very handy place to stay for the ferry with a good takeaway breakfast and coffee provided if you leave before breakfast.

I am a member of Preston Curling Club, and we hold a curling competition each year at North West Castle hotel. There is a curling rink in the hotel, there is a bar/ restaurant at the ice rink. Also it is a very comfortable hotel, lovely food and staff. Breakfast eggs are by far and away the deepest orange colour, real free range. Don't have scrambled, enjoy the richness your eyes behold.
Maybe a long way to travel but get there if you are staying in South West Scotland.

I really enjoyed my stay here and I would have gave it 5 stars, I know it's a castle and they wish to respect as much heritage as possible but some of the rooms and the decor could be doing with an upgrade don't get me wrong the rooms are large which is nice but some of the soft furnishings the decor and bathroom suite s are rather dated,
Breakfast was satisfactory but I wouldn't say it rated 3* to be honest it was lacking the server took our order then gave us our toast, and tea then a different server came out 3 times with cooked breakfast then took it back we had to ask for breakfast again

The service is second to none! Food is excellent! . We were traveling from America and our original place fell through at the very last moment... they found us a room for 3 nights without a reservation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! If I ever have the opportunity to visit Scotland again I will absolutely stay here!!
