Cally Palace, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Gatehouse of Fleet on the Solway coast, is set in over 150 acres of grounds and was originally an 18th century country mansion just outside Gatehouse of Fleet but is now a wonderful hotel in south west Scotland.

Entering through the oak doors, the grandeur of the interior is immediately apparent as step back to a time of period style and elegance while enjoying all the modern comforts of a four star hotel. Two huge marble pillars frame the entrance hall which leads to the Bow Lounge with its magnificent gilt cuppola ceiling.
Set in private gardens above Portpatrick, Fernhill Hotel commands stunning open views over the village, harbour and Irish Sea. This picture perfect panorama greets you as you check in to the hotel and is your backdrop while you dine or relax over a drink. Most of our 3 star hotel's accommodation also benefits from this unspoilt coastal scene.
Our elegant Scottish restaurant showcases the seasonal highlights of Scotland's extensive larder of meat, game, fish and produce. All McMillan Hotels hotels serve traditional Scottish or British cuisine, with an excellent range of fresh local meats, fish and game. Our dinner menus change daily to allow our guests to enjoy a wide range of dishes, all lovingly prepared by our experienced chefs and all offering great value for money.
We have a limited supply of face coverings available to purchase, but please bring your own if possible. In the dining room, the maximum table size is 6 people from a maximum of 2 households. In the lounges and bar, groups of more than six people, from more than two households, may not meet socially.

A lovely hotel that would clearly have been the place to stay in its heyday even if it is a bit dated now. The rooms are a good size. The beds are very firm. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help guests. It's a very handy place to stay for the ferry with a good takeaway breakfast and coffee provided if you leave before breakfast.

I am a member of Preston Curling Club, and we hold a curling competition each year at North West Castle hotel. There is a curling rink in the hotel, there is a bar/ restaurant at the ice rink. Also it is a very comfortable hotel, lovely food and staff. Breakfast eggs are by far and away the deepest orange colour, real free range. Don't have scrambled, enjoy the richness your eyes behold.
Maybe a long way to travel but get there if you are staying in South West Scotland.

I really enjoyed my stay here and I would have gave it 5 stars, I know it's a castle and they wish to respect as much heritage as possible but some of the rooms and the decor could be doing with an upgrade don't get me wrong the rooms are large which is nice but some of the soft furnishings the decor and bathroom suite s are rather dated,
Breakfast was satisfactory but I wouldn't say it rated 3* to be honest it was lacking the server took our order then gave us our toast, and tea then a different server came out 3 times with cooked breakfast then took it back we had to ask for breakfast again

The service is second to none! Food is excellent! . We were traveling from America and our original place fell through at the very last moment... they found us a room for 3 nights without a reservation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! If I ever have the opportunity to visit Scotland again I will absolutely stay here!!

Stayed here for one night as part of our annual Bowls Tour. Impressed with all that was on offer, so much better than some previous places we have stayed. The breakfast was outstanding and I would gladly stay at this hotel again.
