Services
The castle and surrounding estate have a rich history. The Glenapp Estate was already well established under the ownership of the Earl of Orkney when the industrialist, James Hunter (later to become the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire), acquired it and commissioned in 1870 the celebrated Edinburgh architect, David Bryce, to design a suitably magnificent home for him.

Received gift of Afternoon Tea at Glenapp and it was certainly worth the visit. Treated like VIPs from being buzzed through entrance gate, met at hotel entrance by member of staff (with umbrella) who personally saw to our every need including "doggy bag"

Afternoon tea was excellent, the surroundings were good, the staff were very attentive. When the reservation was made my daughter said she was dairy free, this must have been forgotten. But when mentioned it wasn't a problem to rectify, and everything was explained as to there content. We didn't eat everything and they bagged the remainder for us.

I had a wonderful solo stay at Glenapp. The hotel and grounds are stunning.
Staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. Rooms are comfy and cozy (although I think mine was haunted as the TV turned itself on at 2am!) The food was outstanding. Well worth the 5 hour drive from Cheshire. Would benefit from a spa within the grounds as currently they offer use of an external one around a 5 minute drive away.
Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for an idyllic retreat

Location - stunning
Food - excellent

This baronial mansion house is home to a C&R hotel and one of Scotland's finest restaurants. Regularly starred by the Michelin guide.

I've eaten here three times now twice for dinner and once for lunch. On each occassion the service has been superb, without being as stuffy as the surroundings would suggest. Moreover, I've never once left with a single regret having dropped my hard earned wedge on dinner.
