Exmoor Cottage Holidays
John and Melanie invite you to stay at Exmoor Cottage Holidays; five beautiful self-catering cottages lovingly converted from a former farm in the delightful North Devon village of Challacombe. With one, two and three bedrooms, the stone-built holiday letting cottages are ideal for couples, families, friends and pets.

The cottages all have cosy log fires and private enclosed gardens; and within the enchanting grounds are a children's playground; wildlife pond; and wild-flower meadows perfect for picnics and dog-walking. Exmoor Cottage Holidays is ideal for your short break or summer holiday in North Devon or Exmoor.
Services
John & Melanie Moore are a husband and wife team with four children. They have been in the holiday letting business since 1997, when they bought a run-down caravan park near Ilfracombe; which they developed into the first 5 star caravan park in North Devon. They moved to Town Tenement in 2006, attracted by the timeless atmosphere of the cottages and grounds.
At Exmoor Cottage Holidays we provide much more than just accommodation - we offer a delightful place to stay with unique services normally only available in hotels and B&B's so that you can get the very most from your stay. We don't live at the cottages, but we are on site most days from 9am to 5pm and are very happy to help with your enquiries.
The Gatehouse is a spacious two storey self-catering holiday rental cottage at Exmoor Cottage Holidays; larger than Garden Cottage and slightly smaller than Inglenook Cottage. It has a spacious living room with a multi-fuel stove, a well equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher), two upstairs bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate up to five people (+ cot) and French doors to a private enclosed garden with a decking and picnic table.
Garden Cottage is the second-smallest cottage for hire at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and is all on one level, ideal for those who have difficulty with stairs. It has a spacious living room with multifuel stove, a well equipped kitchen, enclosed private garden and two bedrooms which will accommodate up to four people + cot.
The stone and slate Wisteria Cottage is the smallest cottage at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and is all on one level, ideal for those who have difficulty with stairs (although there are two steps up to the front and back doors). It has a spacious sitting room with log stove, and a separate living room with well equipped kitchen and dining area.

This was our second visit. Our cottage was welcoming and warm, holding almost everything we needed; anything not available could be had from either the village shop and Post Office or (for dinner!) The Black Venus, the village pub, a couple of minutes walk away.
We had full use of the grounds, with a walk up the hill, or round the pond. There are plenty of Exmoor walks to hand from the cottages, too.
It was a great pleasure to find our hosts living at hand, and we enjoyed delightful conversation with them both. I must admit to this being the first holiday where my wife has shared a food-fermentation

Truly an amazing and loved natural wonder! If your looking for a secluded get away in the heart of Exmoor, look no further. With an amazing local pub and local walks through the valleys for the dog or kids (or travel a short distance for beautiful beaches and moors too explore). Or if your looking for a more romantic sit in holiday, the cottages are exceptional and historic; all self contained with log burners for late nights by the fire 🔥

Our Party stayed in Inglenook and Gatehouse cottages, both cottages were really clean, comfortable and had everything you needed! We loved exploring the area and Melanie was a wealth of knowledge about the local area and incredibly helpful.
We had 6 dogs across the 2 cottages and often find it hard to find places for multiple dogs (and so welcoming!) so we will definitely be back again. A really lovely stay!
