New Ing Lodge is a Grade 2 listed 18th century farmhouse that now hosts a friendly 10-bedroomed guesthouse and holiday let. We are located in Shap, Cumbria in the beautiful and peaceful Eden Valley directly on Wainwright's Coast to Coast route. We are ideal for groups and individuals interested in walking, cycling and other outdoor activities as well as for those just looking for a peaceful retreat in this beautiful part of the country.
We are open for holiday let throughout the year and serviced B&B and dorm accommodation from March to October. We also have a camping field and facilities. We offer breakfast and have local beers on tap in our on-site bar, The Staggering Wanderer. We are committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible and have been awarded Outstanding Commitment to Responsible Tourism by Nurture Eden and a Gold Star Award by Green Tourism.

Services
New Ing Lodge operates as a serviced bed and breakfast from March to October and a self-catering accommodation for the rest of the year. We have 8 bed and breakfast rooms, which are on the first and second floor of the building. There are 4 double rooms (2 en suites and 2 with private bathrooms), 2 family en suites and 2 triple en-suites.
We are right on the path of the Coast to Coast Walking Route. So why not take advantage of some warmth, comfort, and a hot cooked meal after a day on the fells! The Coast to Coast Walk is a 192-mile (309 km) unofficial and mostly unsignposted long distance footpath in the North of England.
Devised by Alfred Wainwright, it passes right through Shap and three contrasting National Parks including the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the North York Moors.Shap is located about 1/3 of the way on the route (approximately day 4/5) and as the first port of call in the village, The New Ing Lodge is a welcome haven for the weary walker.

Right on the border between the heart of the lakes and the Yorkshire Dales, the question really should be, what isn't there to do? Stayed for 3 nights as a family with a German shephard in a family room, spotless, large and comfortable to say the least. The staff can't help enough and the food is perfect!
Shap is on the cusp of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire dales so we have access to a wide range of the some of the most beautiful scenery. We have gathered here some ideas on how to spend your days while saying with us and we hope you can find something that suits you. If you are still looking for something else fun to do, we would be happy to recommend when you book or just ask suggestions from a member of staff on site.

Our 6th weekend stay as part of a large group (9 families all with kids and dogs) Lovely bar area. Sitting room with roaring fire, massive dining area. Industrial kitchen with lots of space to cater for the masses. Games room in the attic. All set in gorgeous countryside.
However we have had a few niggles. Heating not working, fire not working, TV in sitting room not working to mention a few. Never any really feedback or solutions from the owners despite us booking every year.
Seems a shame as it ticks all the boxes, it just feels we've been let down by something each time for the last couple

Excellent little campsite at the back of the New Ing Lodge B&B. Tiered levels with - and let's not underestimate the importance of these for walkers - benches and tables! Why don't more have them? Bar on site for campers to use, which is very handy after a long day on the C2C. Food can be brought back to eat. Toilet and shower but only 1 so could be an issue if campsite is busy. Slate and white wash decor a nice change from usual campsite standard.

Really good one night stay. Nice and friendly greeting at the door relaxed yet professional.
The beds are soooo comfy! We had no problems staying asleep.
Everything was very clean and tidy with tea and coffee in the rooms.
Breakfast was delicious and hefty, there was good vegetarian options too.
Would rate as a ten if I could.

Eve and Scott were really friendly and talkative, very welcoming and know the area and coast to coast walk very well. The decor is lovely with lots of posters of and about the Lake District, it has a great bar with great local beer and spirits, simple and very comfortable rooms, and a lovely garden which accepts campers. We couldn’t have had a nicer stay, and would highly recommend staying here if on the Coast to Coast walk
