Services
We offer Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced and Mixed Ability Pilates as well as a new Cardio Pilates class which will help improve fitness as well as core strength. Flex Pilates has the great benefit of delivering Pilates classes by fully qualified Physiotherapists. Class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 to ensure clients receive close tuition during the class allowing them to exercise effectively and safely.
All the teachers working with Flex Pilates have completed their training with The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI). Based in London, this company was originally founded by two Physiotherapists from Australia, Glenn and Elisa Withers, who studied the Traditional Pilates repertoire (both matwork and equipment) and found the exercises to be challenging, particularly for clients who perhaps had pathology.

Wouldn't it be great to not have to think about your pain all the time, to enjoy exercising again and be able to sit comfortably at work?
Flex Pilates offers clients the chance to be taught in a 1:1 or 2:1 environment. This small, personalised class allows a specific exercise programme to be taught, tailor-making it to the client and their individual needs. The session enables the teacher to provide very close supervision of each exercise and feedback appropriately to the client on their progress.
If you are new to Pilates then this is the class for you. You will learn the foundations of this fantastic exercise and we recommend attending these classes for a minimum of 6-8 weeks to really understand the foundations of the movements and to slowly build strength. You will improve your balance, co-ordination and flexibility as well as experience the powerful relaxation effects of the classes.

I went to see Jo with a persisting shoulder injury. I have been so impressed. It began with her questioning and how she really listened to what I had to say. Her hands on approach really works and she gives a clear explanation of the issue. I was given exercises to do between sessions which I've never had before from other physios. Now I have full use of my shoulder, which I've not had for months and did n't believe was possible, for someone getting older. I strongly recommend Jo - she is a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional.

I have been attending the studio and latterly online pilates with Jo for over 4 years and have found (at 73 years of age) the exercises keep me supple and mobile. Jo is excellent at making the hourly session fun and challenging and would encourage anyone to have a go as exercises can be adapted to suit personal needs.

I have been attending the pilates studio for over three years and I cannot recommend highly enough, I am stronger and more flexible and my running has been enhanced. In addition I have attended physiotherapy sessions when the need has arisen and again the service has been great, the issue was diagnosed swiftly and the treatment effective. I woudl also add that the flex studio is a very friendly and welcoming place where you are made to feel safe and at ease.

I'm pretty sure Jo is a magician - she is the reason I have been able to recover from a nasty case of wry neck, fitting me in when needed&being incomparable in her knowledge/skill. I've also been able to recover from another injury during the pandemic with the support of Jo through online Pilates. If you are looking for an excellent physiotherapist or a way to stay fit, strengthen your core and improve your life then Flex is the place for you.

I’ve seen Jo many times due to a variety of issues. She is knowledgeable and asks questions so that she can find the right solutions, and works with her clients to achieve the best outcome. She gives exercise plans to continue the treatments at home. For me, she has contacted my doctor directly, with a very informative letter so that I have been able to get X-rays and further investigations and I feel that without her help I would have been in pain for much longer period of time. My issues made it impossible for me to ride due to the pain had, and I’m pleased to say that after a few sessions

I've been going to Pilates sessions run by Jo and her team for more years than I can remember. All the instructors are professional, experienced physiotherapists in their own right so I always feel totally confident that the exercises are safe and beneficial. The whole team are friendly and approachable and willing to adapt to individual needs if necessary. Jo’s knowledge, skill and delivery are top notch. I had a lower back issue and we worked through it to the point where I no longer needed treatment. Her explanation is clear and concise and I had no confusion to what I was supposed to be doing in between sessions. I would 100% recommend her to everyone 👍🏻

I visited Flex Pilates with a painful shoulder injury. I had no idea what I had done or whether to rest or mobilise my arm. Jo did an initial diagnosis, said I would need up to five visits, with exercises to do at home in between. Jo did what I feared to do and flexed the shoulder (!) but I felt I was in safe hands and true to her word I got the movement back and became pain free. Well worth it and I should have acted sooner rather than suffer in hope.

There is no comparison between the professionalism care and expertise provided by Jo and that received by other physios I have seen. I came to see Jo after a catastrophic ski accident which resulted in tib and fib being plated and pinned. I could barely walk and was told by nhs to just do basic exercises prescribed by them. However once Jo worked her magic she assessed the issues where to be addressed through hip pelvis and knees as well as the foot I am now moving much more naturally. I still see her for top up adjustments when my leg starts to misbehave. But I hate to think where I would have
