Are you an animal owner who would benefit from the convenience of a fully qualified vet making a house call to visit your pet? Perhaps you are house bound, extremely busy with children or maybe your pet is one of the millions who really hates travelling?
Mercury Vets is a totally new concept in routine veterinary surgery in the UK - bringing the operating theatre to you! Having a mobile vet visit you greatly reduces any stress and worry your pet may suffer - they will hardly even leave their home and will be back in familiar surroundings when they wake up.

Services
Our newest addition to the Team, Tara worked for us as a locum during Summer 2019. Having travelled the world - working in New Zealand and the Caribbean - she joins us again on a more permenant basis. She is a keen surgeon and hopes to obtain her surgical certificate soon. Her veterinary interests are particularly centered around pain management, orthopedic conditions and taking care of golden oldies!
We come directly to your house - all we need is level parking space and access to your electric supply. The patient is then examined and weighed and a pre-med injection given, which reduces anxiety and lessens the dose of anaesthetic needed. Once a little dozy, the patient is taken into the unit and the operation performed.
We can spay and castrate cats from 3 months of age. This may seem young, but we have had a lot of experience of early neutering in rescue centres and there are benefits of neutering at less than 6 months. Cats can be neutered at any age, but it is best to avoid spaying females when they are in season (calling).
Any abnormal lump on your pet is best investigated. We can come to you to perform a biopsy, arrange for pathology and then for the removal of the lump if necessary. Many clients choose excision of an abnormal lump first of all and then decide if to go for pathology or not. We can advise and treat as appropriate for your pet, depending on the situation.
Pets can be permanently identified by implanting a microchip under the skin. This is the best way of increasing the chance of a lost pet being returned to you (although best not to lose it at all!). Microchipping can be done on its own, with vaccination, or while your pet is under anaesthetic following an operation.

We first used mercury vets in February they were so understanding and professional of the situation.we now use them for our dog who has been poorly since we had her and they identified the problem as soon as they saw her when other vets failed.

My mother’s dog was elderly and under veterinary support. Sadly, he went off his legs and it was time to do the kindest thing for him and say goodbye. Our local vets were unwilling to come out to him and suggested we called another veterinary surgery! How they expected an elderly lady to get a heavy ill dog to their surgery and be seen in the street, I fail to understand.
Mercury vet and nurse came in, they were so lovely and sympathetic to my elderly mums needs and allowed her time to say goodbye.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I shall always be grateful and shall recommend you to

Prompt, friendly and professional. They put my vet-hating cat at ease straightaway and to my amazement he let the vet do pretty much what was needed with no fuss. That was down to her soothing words and soft touch. Thank you Mercury, a visit from the vet is no longer to be feared.

Can not thank the team at Mercury Vets enough. After a not so great experience with our last vets, Stacie, Tara and Anne have been fantastic with our dog. They have restored our faith and we will be using them from now on! Thank you again!
