We are a one-form entry Church of England Primary School in the heart of Oval. Our diverse intake reflects the local area and maintains the feel of a welcoming, close-knit family. Christian values are at the core of our ethos, helping to create a warm, caring community, within which children feel safe, valued and in which they can thrive in all aspects of their development.

You probably didn't know that St Mark's is the oldest Primary School in London still standing on its original site. It was built as the school for St Mark's Church in 1824. Since then more rooms have been added at the back, but the original front has hardly been altered, To begin with it was just two long buildings- one for the boys and the other for girls and infants, with accommodation for the head teachers in between.
Our school vision which outlines what we are striving to achieve for the children within the school is: St Mark's. Provide a wide range of opportunities for children to develop spiritually, morally, socially and culturally. Encourage children to think for themselves, develop enquiring minds and become independent, reflective individuals.
National testing for state schools takes place at the end of Year 2 (for Key Stage 1) and Year 6 (for Key Stage 2). In Year 6, children take externally marked tests in Reading, Maths and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. These are published alongside Teacher Assessment for Writing.
We are very proud to announce that our school results across the school during the past three years demonstrate high levels of achievement, which are often in line with and in some cases exceeding national expectations at the end of the Early Years Phase, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Our enriching school curriculum provides a broad range of inspirational learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We are fully committed to ensuring that children make good progress in all areas of the curriculum and we assess this progress at the end of each term. We place a high emphasis on reading standards across the school and also aim to inspire within our children a love for reading.
Who are the best people to talk to in this school about my child's difficulties with learning/ Special Educational Needs and/or disability (SEND) and how can I talk to them about my child if I need to?. Ensuring that all children have access to good/outstanding teaching and that the curriculum is adapted to meet your child's individual needs (also known as personalised learning or differentiation).

St Mark's is a very high standard school to me and my children, I have four kids joined this school and we are happy after all these years even though its few miles away from home, I can see and feel that my children are improving year by year and the school is getting more and more support for my kids. I will strong recommend.

St Mark's is a small school with a family-friendly feel. We appreciate the opportunities available to our children in a community where the staff, parents and pupils know each other well, and are very happy to have our two attend this school where strong morals and values are encouraged alongside a great curriculum. Links with Surrey cricket club are also an added bonus!

St Mark's is a small & friendly school which encourages children warmly, whatever their ability. There are high standards of teaching & children progressing across the board, which is really encouraging as a parent.
My children who are now 21 & 11 attended St Mark's school and I can honestly say were very happy. The teachers & leadership really care about every child & I would say the majority are well behaved and happy. The school's parent/school relationship is growing from strength to strength & there is a real community.
If you are looking for an excellent start for your child, then St Mark
