Our experienced, qualified and dedicated team pride themselves on bringing out the best in every child through focusing on building up close relationships with the children and offering focused and varied activities.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework. We usually link our activities under a termly theme. Regular activities include music, dance and song, arts and crafts, cooking and cultural celebrations. The best way for you to see the Pre-School in action is to come along for a visit.

Services
We are a thriving pack-away pre-school that caters for young children in Long Wittenham and surrounding villages. We offer children an opportunity to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment. We first opened in 1970 and operate out of the village hall. The pre-school can accommodate a maximum of 24 children per session.
In the morning the children are greeted by a member of staff. Once coats and bags are hung up and shoes are changed the children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities such as painting, drawing, ICT, jigsaws, role-play settings, sand pit, messy play, story time etc. These regular activities are rotated so that there are always new things for the children to do.
Our Pre-School is a charitable incorporated organisation, registered with the Charities Commission and run for the benefit of the children, their families and the community. As such, we have a Management Committee (made up of volunteer parents or carers) that is responsible for the Pre-School and its staff.
Our website will provide you with introductory information about our Educational aims and values. We explain how we work and how the children will learn during their time with us. Additional information will be displayed in the pre-school, published on this website or sent home in Newsletters. At all times, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Long Wittenham Pre-School follows a legal document called the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), is how the Government and early years professionals describe the time in your child's life between birth and age 5. This is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes.

My 2 boys joined long wittenham pre school in Sept 2020, after a strange few months adjusting to covid life pre school was perfect for them to have some normality. They settled so well after not being in a… setting before and made some amazing friendships whilst there along with incredible bonds with the staff. I'm so grateful to all the staff for giving my children an exciting and fun covid secure environment and I'm very sad their time is now over,although they are now well prepared for school. Thank you!
