Services
Little Pippins Pre-school (established in 1970), is based in a purpose built building securely set within the idyllic Freeman Orchard in Harwell village. We work in partnership with Harwell Primary School to provide a curriculum for the Foundation Stage and seamless transition into primary school. Managers monitor the progress of children meticulously.
For parents who need wrap-around care, the Breakfast Club is available from 8am - 9:05am and Little Pippins provides a Walking Bus to Harwell School for Harwell After School Club which runs from 3.15pm - 6.00pm (5.00pm on Fridays). Activities are designed to develop happy, confident and independent learners.
Children are welcomed into the session by a member of staff. The children wash their hands and take part in our morning nurture time before being encouraged to take part in the activities on offer. Children select an activity either inside or outside. During the session, children will be invited to join small group focussed activities or other enrichment group activities like Boogie Beat, Serious4Sport, Forest School.
The Forest School Association describes Forest School "as an inspirational process that offers all learner regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees". Forest School is held on site at Little Pippins, on the left as you enter the car park and our second site is at the car end of the car park.
Most of our staff are trained or training in Early Years to Level 3. Almost all our staff hold Paediatric First Aid Certificates and at least one First Aider is available at each session. All staff have had Safeguarding training and those that prepare food have Food Hygiene training. Staff also undergo regular training in other areas - either to support their CPD or in response to the needs of the pre-school.
