Sailing Choices
Well, you could trawl the web and check out the hundreds of sailing holiday companies and yacht suppliers. Or you could use Sailing Choices, your one stop shop for impartial advice and information on every aspect of planning, booking and enjoying your holiday, from where you can fly from, to places to moor up.

All in one place, and hopefully free of the enhanced holiday brochure pictures and waffle about idyllic tranquil blue bays (ideal for swimming)! You can book your sailing holiday here too, for no extra charge and with the same discounts you'd get booking direct with the operators, sometimes more.

My name is Jeremy Friend, commonly known as Jez, and I'd like to welcome you to my new website. I hope you will find it both interesting and useful and will keep coming back as it expands. I've lots more to add but there's only me to load the information and it takes time. So bookmark it now and do let me know if there's anything in particular you want covering and I'll see what I can do.
This section is aimed largely at those who have never been on a sailing holiday before, though hopefully even old hands will find something here they didn't know. Some myths, rumours and "facts" will be dispelled and meantime please excuse anything that seems a statement of the blindingly obvious.
Whether you want to sail the boat yourself, or have someone else do it, there's a holiday waiting for you. There are holidays for singles, couples, families and groups, for the fit and the less able. You can sail all day long, or just do short hops. You can explore the sights and culture ashore, or just hit the bar.
You don't need any previous experience or sailing qualification to go on a sailing holiday, but the choices are greater if you or other members of your party have some certificates or verifiable record of previous sailing. Every yacht needs a skipper and (generally) some crew.

If you are taking a sailing course, you will only need previous experience if taking one of the more advanced sailing courses - details of these can be found in the section on Sailing Courses. However, for a bareboat charter or flotilla holiday, the skipper is responsible for the boat and it's crew (yes, even on flotilla) and needs the necessary skills and (usually), some qualifications.
There is no reason why children can't join virtually any sailing holiday. I have seen a 6 month old baby strapped in to a car seat screwed to the cockpit (it was a private yacht - don't expect a charter company to be too impressed if you drill holes in their boat)! The only restrictions are on some formal courses and on adult only cruises (cabin charter).
