Equinox Sailing
Equinox the London School of Sailing are a RYA Training Centre, running practical courses from our base on the River Hamble and theory courses all over London. Within minutes of slipping our lines we can be sailing on the famous waters of the Solent. With its many harbours and marinas, the Solent offers a great mix of tactical and challenging conditions.

Ruaraidh (pronounced like Brewery without the B) is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and keen racer. He grew up in SW London but was taught how to sail on his Grandads wooden Fireball (Pyrosphere) in the Fal Estuary. He and his dad raced an RS 400 at various locations around the South & West of England.
Services
From novice to hard core sailors we'll tailor our sailing and tuition to suit your experience and learning style to help you achieve your sailing goals. We enjoy both cruising and racing; and understand that sailors, or aspiring sailors, shouldn't be restricted or pigeon-holed.

Therefore we offer RYA qualifications, but we understand that these will not suit all requirements and so offer the opportunity to gain experience outside the standard RYA course route. We strongly encourage your development through experience, increasing understanding and confidence. We are all learning all the time - even the most experienced!
This mile builder provides an ideal opportunity for RYA Day Skippers to gain experience and work towards their RYA Coastal Skipper or RYA Yachtmaster qualifications but they are great confidence builders for all levels of experience (and great fun!). Sail day and night frequently out of sight of land; experience living and eating on board all under the watchful eye of your skipper.
Summary: Our Skippers, Paul Taylor and Paul Foddy are very familiar with the Hebridean coastline Paul Taylor lives in the area and sails in the Scottish waters off the west coast. He is able to make suggestions for the most beautiful trips and destinations.

You may decide to travel through the Crinan Canal, arguably the most beautiful canals in Europe or perhaps you prefer to travel round the Mull of Kintyre, one of the most challenging headlands in Britain. With a large number of marina options you may drop into Tobermory, Kyle of Lochalsh, Portree, Tiree, Coll among many others.
Join the crew of our two, fully race prepared and matched SIGMA 38's. We are having an optional training weekend to get the crew whipped into competitive shape before the race weekend itself! Round the Island is a great day on the water. As well as competing against Olympic, world-class and weekend sailors, there will be the opportunity to race against other Sigma 38s in this one-design class - and the Sigma skippers are a competitive bunch.
Book an RYA Day Skipper theory course with Equinox LSS and receive a 10% on a RYA Day Skipper Practical course (600 reduced to 540). The RYA Day Skipper Theory course is FOR ANYONE who is new to Navigation or rusty having not used it for years. The "classroom" sessions will be held on Zoom from your PC, Laptop, Tablet, or Phone, so you will interact with your instructor and classmates quite normally.

Doing our Day Skipper course with Equinox and Rob (!!!) was the greatest sailing experience of my life. Although I had been sailing for several years, learning from him who spent all his life on the sea and mainly in the Solent is just the best you can do if you are into sailing at any level. He knows the waters just as well as the marinas and restaurants around the Solent. We were all experienced sailors but learnt so many tricks and tips and it was just scratching the surface. We will defenetly be back and I'm honestly saying if you want to learn sailing properly while having a great time don

Our group had a great day on the beginner's experience trip that we did for my partner's birthday. Our skipper, Alex, was great. He was very friendly and professional and clearly explained everything we needed to know. He was happy for us to go at our own speed and was happy to plan around what we wanted to do. I would definitely reccomended this experience for anyone who wants to have a go sailing a yacht.

I would definitely recommend a sailing experience day with Alex. I was very impressed with the day. Alex was great fun to be around and was excellent at explaining how to sail. He was happy to plan the day around our speed and showed genuine empathy when one of our party was sea sick. I loved the fact that he made such an effort to celebrate the fact it was my birthday and took the time to learn and use our names on a regular basis.

My partner and I have just completed the Equinox Sailing RYA Day Skipper Theory Course.
The course took place over three very full weekends in Central London.
The trainer Simon was excellent - very knowledgeable and well prepared with really clear teaching materials.
There were only three of us in the group which made it easier to absorb the large amount of material in the short time available.
We would thoroughly recommend this course and Equinox Sailing to people looking to expand their sailing skills and expertise.
