You must check in with the CDO and initial the sailing register on arrival at the Centre, and cross out your initials when you leave. The NLSA is a community association run by volunteers and open to all who want to sail.
We sail at the West Reservoir Centre, Stoke Newington, one of London's best kept sailing secrets, set in a beautiful location behind the Castle Climbing Centre off Green Lanes, and also at our own Coastal Sailing Base at Brightlingsea in Essex. While members can simply enjoy a relaxing sail, we also organise informal training sessions, and races in which everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part, whatever their level of ability.

Services
If you are 8 or over and have an adult RYA Level 2 certificate or a Youth Stage 3, or equivalent, you can join straight away; just follow the instructions below. There is a dropdown menu and the one you select depends on your date of joining and your category of membership. The close family of qualified adult members can also join even if unqualified themselves, but must only sail with the qualified adult family member.
The NLSA is fortunate to own a residential coastal sailing base, Brightlingsea Coastal Sailing Centre, at Brightlingsea in Essex, situated on the Colne estuary. With a long maritime tradition of fishing and boatbuilding, Brightlingsea is also a centre for leisure boating, with superb local sailing in the Colne and Blackwater estuaries, ideal for RYA courses, race training and dinghy day sailing and cruising.
You don't have to race but there's no better place to start than with the NLSA! All racing is done on a friendly informal basis and you are particularly welcome if it is your first time. Racing takes place a number of times a year with the Icicle Series being a particular highlight (particularly cold that is).
NB: We do not run any RYA courses. If you don't have any dinghy-sailing experience and you want to gain the required qualifications then you need to contact the GLL/Better organisation at the West Reservoir Centre direct (below) about courses, and not the NLSA. We do not run youth activities at the West Reservoir Centre.
